Hamid Ahsan Noshahi Qawwali Group has been in the family of Ahsan Ali for the past 400 years, his father the late Mohammed Tufail Noshahi was also an amazing Qawwali artist of his time and before his death he made a decision for Hamid Ahsan Ali Noshahi to continue this family Qawwali group and become the leader. Mohammed Tufail Noshahi appeared many times on various Pakistani TV Channels and was also interviewed on Pakistani radio.
Hamid Ali Raza plays a supporting lead role to Ahsan Ali, part of this role requires an understanding with the lead singer, good listening skills and anticipating when verses begin and when to contribute, being flexible to understand un-rehearsed lines and to be able to react to unpredictable and spontaneous pieces of segments from the main lead.
Zuqarnain has been a tabla player for this group for the last 5 years and is a student of the late ‘Moon Noshahi’, Playing the tabla is an immensely tiring job as you have to have knowledge for all the different beats and rhythms for the Qawwali pieces also knowing when to stop playing, playing slowly and playing fast, this all depends on the type of Qawwali that is being sung. The whole of the performance relies on the beat and pace of the tabla player as he sets the tone, Zulqarnain plays classical tabla and also Qawwali tabla, he has performed with this group all over Pakistan.
